About Us

My photo
The title for our blog came from the saying "thinking outside the box", which means to think differently, unconventionally or from a new perspective. "Enjoy your choices and enjoy what you do. Never let a day go by without being thankful for the fact that you get to be here in the first place." Hopefully this blog will help family and friends to stay a little closer to us even though were thousands of miles apart; as well as to share in our trials, daily life adventures and traveling experiences.

Where have you been?

Have any of you been wondering what happened to me. Sorry I haven't been blogging as much as usual. I had a terrible cold that actually got bad enough I had to brave going to the dutch Dr (something I dread since my past experiences have proven that they aren't very helpful). Poor Ella was sick too and then Doug got it. His parents arrived for their two week stay and they got sick too! But we're all finally feeling better and his parents just left today. Here is just a sneak peak of what we've been up to. I'll have more about each event later.

We visited the Loevestein Castle here in Holland......

Walked around downtown where it's starting to feel more like Christmas (it's cold but no snow)
This building was decorated with an upside down Christmas Tree....cool!
Thanksgiving Dinner was nice.....even though a Turkey here is outrageous! Our 7lb bird (and not a Butterball) cost 40 euro, which is equal to $54.00.

Hurry up.....Let's eat already!

We went to a few Christmas Markets in Germany.

Ella is growing and changing in what seems like every hour!! I just can't keep up with her lately. Her loving personality shines through more and more everyday. She is balancing herself and gaining more and more confidence with each passing day so she is walking ALL over the place!

She's babbling up as storm as well as saying a few words. I am officially "mommy" now instead of mama. And she says "daddy" more and more too. Her newest very clear word is "baby" and she has been showing a growing interest in her baby dolls. She has a push toy that is suppose to help her walk, but she is always trying to put things on top of it, including her baby dolls and push them around. Looks like Santa might have to try and budget for a baby carriage.
