About Us

My photo
The title for our blog came from the saying "thinking outside the box", which means to think differently, unconventionally or from a new perspective. "Enjoy your choices and enjoy what you do. Never let a day go by without being thankful for the fact that you get to be here in the first place." Hopefully this blog will help family and friends to stay a little closer to us even though were thousands of miles apart; as well as to share in our trials, daily life adventures and traveling experiences.

VERY Adventurous

Almost every weekend we go to the park downtown to walk the dogs. For being right in the center of the city, it really is very relaxing and peaceful. The trails going through the wooded area is the best because we can let the dogs run free from their leash.

We hadn't packed a picnic lunch to take with us for quite some time so with the beautiful summer weather we had on Saturday it seemed like the perfect thing to do.

Our plan was to take our bikes, stop for lunch, walk the dogs and then ride back home again. Although we did accomplish our plan.....it didn't pan out as well in person as it had in our minds.

First of all Ella usually rides in her car seat while sitting in the buggy. Since the dogs were going to be going as well (for the first time) there wasn't room. So the car seat stayed behind and Ella was harnessed in.

Next came the dogs, all our other items were packed into the back of the buggy and we set off!

WELL......... we didn't even make it to the next street over from our house before we stopped three different times because first Tucker figured out how to jump out of the moving cart, then Chloe, and finally we decided that they needed to be tied (using their leashes) into the cart. Because they were so frantic and worked up having to ride in the cart, we felt that it was unsafe for Ella to be in there with them. I voted for us to go back home and leave the dogs behind, but Doug was determined that we were ALL going!  Thankfully we had the baby carrier with us. We have seen people ride this way here so we tried it. Ella loved it and I think she thought she was a bird the way she was waving her arms and legs and giggling like crazy with the wind in her hair.

We decided that if this is going to be something we do more often, then we will have to get a seat for Ella that fastens to Doug's bike in the front.

After nearling dying, and sweating my a@@ off pedaling my bike and buggy to the park, I swore I would never do it again. I can't believe people actually do this on a regular basis. Now I know why the automobile was invented!!!!

We did however have a nice time at the park. Ella's buggy has a removable wheel for the front, so when you detach it from the bike you can use it as a stroller. We loaded it with lots of stuff knowing we'd spend a few hours in the park. Ella didn't mind one bit!

Where is Ella??

There she is!!

We hiked the trails....
Yea, yeah....poor Doug. This was a huge climb, but I did pedal my bike to and from the park with that buggy!

Enjoyed lunch.....

It was a beautiful afternoon so we walked around Sonsbeek Park (click for more photos) for hours.
