About Us

The title for our blog came from the saying "thinking outside the box", which means to think differently, unconventionally or from a new perspective. "Enjoy your choices and enjoy what you do. Never let a day go by without being thankful for the fact that you get to be here in the first place." Hopefully this blog will help family and friends to stay a little closer to us even though were thousands of miles apart; as well as to share in our trials, daily life adventures and traveling experiences.

Biking to the Store

The purpose of buying the bike and cart for Ella and I was to make going to the store a bit easier. This afternoon is was so nice outside that Doug decided he could take a little break from writing and go with me on my first attempt to the store. I found this test run rather helpful. It showed me what I can fit in the cart with Ella and with another newbie bike rider it was nice to practice locking our bikes into the bike rack.

Although two bags of groceries did fit, we learned that this is not something that can be done with just one person. Because I take Ella in her buggy in the carseat, I have to take her and the carseat into the grocery store with me. The bigger parking area for bikes is on the opposite side of the shopping center from where the grocery store entrance is located . If Doug hadn't been along to offer some help, I never would have managed all the food and Ella back out to my bike myself. I guess I will be doing "light" grocery shopping every other day in order to manage it alone.

Although I was surprised at how much actually fit in the back of the cart with Ella........

.....an entire counter full!!!  And yes....with the weight of Ella, her car seat, the actually buggy itself and all this food, my legs got a TERRIFIC workout!!! (And I'm not ashamed to admit, I was huffing and puffing a bit too......hahaha).
