About Us

My photo
The title for our blog came from the saying "thinking outside the box", which means to think differently, unconventionally or from a new perspective. "Enjoy your choices and enjoy what you do. Never let a day go by without being thankful for the fact that you get to be here in the first place." Hopefully this blog will help family and friends to stay a little closer to us even though were thousands of miles apart; as well as to share in our trials, daily life adventures and traveling experiences.

Elden Bike Race

We have been a little behind in making sure we post our adventures on here. Our camera broke and we have had to borrow the one Doug uses at work. For the photos on this post, we actually used our phone. While the quality isn't perfect you can get the idea of our day.

About a month ago there were bike races in our town. It reminded us of a very small Tour de France. There were different races depending on your age. We only spent an hour or so watching the cyclists and walking around to look at all the vendors that were set up. It was unbelievable to see how fast the cyclists went by you, were gone, and then back again! The car following the riders looked like it might go around the turns on two wheels. The driver definitely had to keep his foot to the floor in order to keep up with the pack.

There weren't a lot of venders that were of interest to us. There were many food stands and games for kids to play. They even had the duck pond game which reminded us of the small town fireman carnivals back home. We did however get something for Pumpkin's nursery!

Finally, the parking lot in the center, was turned into a volleyball court, where numerous matches were held. Dump trucks brought in loads of sand the day before. I actually took the picture of them bringing the sand while I was waiting for the bus. Still today, you can see some sand left on the parking lot.

Someday we hope to actually go and watch the Tour de France. We missed the opportunity this year, but there is always next year!!
