About Us

My photo
The title for our blog came from the saying "thinking outside the box", which means to think differently, unconventionally or from a new perspective. "Enjoy your choices and enjoy what you do. Never let a day go by without being thankful for the fact that you get to be here in the first place." Hopefully this blog will help family and friends to stay a little closer to us even though were thousands of miles apart; as well as to share in our trials, daily life adventures and traveling experiences.

World Cup Finals

On the Sunday evening of the final match in the World Cup, we decided to travel into the our downtown city of Arnhem. While the craziness of this city could never be compared to cities of Amsterdam, it was well worth the short drive. There were thousands and thousands of people all decked out in orange with multiple accessories. We only took a quick walk around and then left to watch the game in the comfort of our landlord's house. These pictures should give you an idea of the elaborately decorated fans.

These horns could be heard EVERYWHERE, and every time Holland was playing in a match during the World Cup.

The googly-eyed hat was one of Kristina's favorites!

This guy is wearing one of everything!!

About three different areas were set up with a huge screen to broadcast the game to the enormous crowds. Here is just one of the biggest sections. WAY in the distance you can see the screen (which really was quite large).

A few of Doug's favorites were the homemade noise maker and an endless supply of kegs. (although he didn't even get a beer while we were there). We actually saw multiple spots with that many kegs being set up the night before the match.

Even Doug showed support by wearing some orange.
