About Us

My photo
The title for our blog came from the saying "thinking outside the box", which means to think differently, unconventionally or from a new perspective. "Enjoy your choices and enjoy what you do. Never let a day go by without being thankful for the fact that you get to be here in the first place." Hopefully this blog will help family and friends to stay a little closer to us even though were thousands of miles apart; as well as to share in our trials, daily life adventures and traveling experiences.

Celebrating the World Cup

Here in Holland, you can tell how proud the dutch people are when it comes to "football". Since day one of the World Cup the Dutch have been celebrating, hoping for their team to go farther and farther toward the finals. Everything is elaborately decorated. Below you can see a few of the shopping windows, houses, and streets. Even the downtown fountain was orange!!

Even when you do your shopping, it gets a little crazy! We came home from the store one day to find that even our toilet paper was supporting Holland. Each visit to the grocery store also resulted in a handful of "Beestjes" in the colors red, white, and blue for the Holland flag and orange for the team color! We have noticed that people place them in the windows of their home, as well as their car for decorations. Chloe and Tucker thought they were great doggy toys and often checked out each bag after we returned home from the store, hoping to find a new one to play with.

Another post to come, all about the final match of the World Cup, and how crazy it looked to be downtown in the middle of the celebration.
