Although work can be overwhelming with all the projects and interns Doug is responsible for, it's nice when he is asked to travel and I get to go along. At the end of July he had to visit a small company in Landshut, Germany that was working on a problem for one of his engines. Work was going to pay for Doug to fly there, stay 2 nights and have a rental car in order to make the meeting. We decided that it would be a nice little vacation to see parts of Germany before the baby arrives. So instead of Doug flying, work gave him a company car and we drove. This allowed us to take the dogs since it is difficult to leave them home for that long. Since the hotel was already going to be paid by Bosch for Doug's business trip, that wasn't any extra for us, so we decided to make the best of our trip and take one extra night at a different hotel a little farther south. We spent 4 days total driving and seeing the sites. The best part of all was that Doug's meeting was only 2 hours long on one of the days! Bosch paid for him to be there, his meals, and gave him a rental car, all for a 2 hour meeting!! It was a great reason to get away. Even though the car ride was very long, and traffic was bad, we enjoyed seeing the Germany countryside. It reminded us a lot of home, with the small back roads and mountains in the distance. We both thought it was prettier than Holland. Some of the fields were so well maintained and went on and on forever. They almost looked like golf courses. Enjoy the pictures. We had fun trying out our new camera. More posts to come of our adventures each day!
Chloe and Tucker were wonderful on our trip. Europe is very open to dogs, so the dog friendly hotels were not a problem at all. People expected to see us walking them through the halls and onto the elevator. They loved being able to nap during the long car ride there and home. I think they even enjoyed walking around and sightseeing (or sniffing I guess I could say) as much as we did!
