We spent most of the day driving to Landshut. It seemed like every major road we drove on was under construction (just like when you plan to go somewhere in the U.S.) Doug's a diehard driver and doesn't like to stop for many breaks so with traffic and his lead foot we made it there in about 7 1/2 hours. Ohh and in Germany they have the autobahn where there is no speed limit. Doug LOVED it!!! I tried not to pay attention to how fast we were going (over 100 mph at times). Our hotel was in the center of downtown and while from the outside it might not look like much, the inside was beautiful!

Beautiful staircases leading up to our room
Even though it was evening time when we arrived we decided to walk around the town to take in some of the architecture. Every building was painted a different pastel color. This one captures both sides of the street where our hotel was located. It almost looks like a movie set.
This is the Church of St. Martin, the main church in Landshut. It is a late Gothic church that was completed around 1500. It features the world's tallest brick spire which stands at 130 meters (427 feet). The church is still in use today. Wherever we walked throughout the town, you could see the brick spire in the distance.
Pictured here is the original gate to the city.
Final stop; a short walk down by the river.
