About Us

My photo
The title for our blog came from the saying "thinking outside the box", which means to think differently, unconventionally or from a new perspective. "Enjoy your choices and enjoy what you do. Never let a day go by without being thankful for the fact that you get to be here in the first place." Hopefully this blog will help family and friends to stay a little closer to us even though were thousands of miles apart; as well as to share in our trials, daily life adventures and traveling experiences.

Home Sweet Home

I have posted pictures of the outside of the house. Now that we are all settled in, I finally took pictures of the inside and decided to make a post about it. It's not our Bellefonte home with it's old country charm. This house seems to have more of an industrial feel. I think it might be the doors. And since we're renting the house, we are not going to be painting. Having all the warm colors we had in Bellefonte made it feel more like home, but we have all our furniture and personal belongings now!

The downstairs in wide and open. It is in the shape of an "L" which includes the living room, dining room and kitchen. First the living room:

The dining room:

Small kitchen and tiny dorm-room like fridge that we are still getting use to!

A doorway off the kitchen leads into the back entryway of our house. We have a nice size room to place our coats and shoes when we come inside.

Off of the back entrance there is our utility room/laundry room. In the back, the big white box is our house boiler. It's a Nefit boiler (that's what Doug works on here!!)

Off of the living room there is a side entrance to the house. There is also a nice size room here, which has the downstairs tiny bathroom.

Now up the steep stairs!!

A little space at the top of the stairs. To the right is our bathroom. To the left one spot to store clothes. There are no built in closets here. Most Dutch homes do not have them.

There are three bedrooms upstairs. The guest bedroom:

Our room:

The 3rd bedroom is our everything room! There is a futon for more guests. Doug has a desk space to work on his thesis. And we use this room for all our games...board games, Wii, and Rock Band.

Finally, I have a craft spot to do all my scrapbooking!!!

And it wouldn't be HOME SWEET HOME without Chloe and Tucker our watchdogs. They love watching out the big windows!!
