About Us

The title for our blog came from the saying "thinking outside the box", which means to think differently, unconventionally or from a new perspective. "Enjoy your choices and enjoy what you do. Never let a day go by without being thankful for the fact that you get to be here in the first place." Hopefully this blog will help family and friends to stay a little closer to us even though were thousands of miles apart; as well as to share in our trials, daily life adventures and traveling experiences.

Vlooienmarkt (flea market)

On Saturday we took our bikes and went to see what the "Vlooienmarkt" here was like. Apparently they have it every few months, but this was the first time we had ever heard of it. Of course it was a lot of junk (in my opinion).....but we did find Ella an outfit and some toys. They had a lot of baby clothes so I wished we would have known about it when she was younger.

When it was time to leave I just had to try out one of the sweets from the vender. I don't know the name of what I picked. It was a waffle (but very dry and flaky when I was expecting soft and moist) with whipped cream in the middle and a chocolate dip top with more whipped cream on the top piece. You couldn't bite into! It was ok....but nothing special.

We traveled dutch style, so Doug had to also use the straps on the back of the bike to travel home with one of Ella's new toys.

Ella LOVED her new toys. And played for quite some time when we got home. You put balls in the giraffe's mouth and it plays music and then the balls comes out onto one of the colored feet.

Waiting for another ball to come out.
Every kid needs the fisher price phone!
Late afternoon we had a beautiful end to our day with a double rainbow overhead!

look very closely to see the other rainbow
