About Us

My photo
The title for our blog came from the saying "thinking outside the box", which means to think differently, unconventionally or from a new perspective. "Enjoy your choices and enjoy what you do. Never let a day go by without being thankful for the fact that you get to be here in the first place." Hopefully this blog will help family and friends to stay a little closer to us even though were thousands of miles apart; as well as to share in our trials, daily life adventures and traveling experiences.

A little farther south

Just a few more hours in the car and we were headed to our next stop; Hohenschwangau Germany where our main reason for the visit was to see the Neuschwanstein castle. We knew another castle was also nearby, but it wasn't until we arrived at our hotel that we realized just how close it actually was. Our hotel was sandwiched between the two mountains that occupied each of the castles. Lucky for us, it was much easier to visit both, so we got double out of the trip!! Once again, our hotel didn't really look like one from the outside. While it was not as nice as the one in Landshut, it was a perfect location for visiting the castles.
Since we arrived in late afternoon we had time to visit the Hohenschwangau Castle. This was not one we planned to tour, but were able to spend some time walking around the grounds. It was only a short walk up the path from our hotel. This picture was actually taken from the opposite mountain where Neuschwanstein Castle is located. Hohenschwangau Castle was the childhood home of Kind Ludwig II.

As we got farther up the walking path and finally to the castle, you could see the details of the castle. It reminded us of a spanish style though.

The views from here were just as amazing. Can you see Neuschwanstein Castle in the distance??

We had a wonderful time.....just us and the dogs. It was our last trip before the baby arrives. I guess you could call it a "babymoon".
